Sky Sports Signs TV Deal with the NBA – Basketball Megastore

Basketball Megastore

Some good news for NBA fans in the UK to high-five about!! Sky Sports has signed a deal to show live NBA games on TV in the UK.

Sky Sports jumped in to make sure that they were able to cover the New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons, which is being played at London's O2 arena later this week, and have built on that, with a promise to show live Sunday night games from the NBA.

The London NBA game will be the first to be show in the UK in 3D.

As well as live Sunday night games for the rest of the regular NBA season, Sky will also be broadcasting the NBA play-off games, Eastern Conference Finals, and all of the games from the NBA finals.

ESPN had taken the lead in terms of showing the NBA in the UK, by securing the rights to show case regular season games late last year. ESPN will also show the Western Conference Finals (in contrast to Sky) and also all of the games from the Finals.

Hopefully this step can prove that basketball is a serious, popular sport here in the UK and make sure that we're not robbed of UK Sport funding opportunities again in the future.
